It definitely isn't action packed, but emotionally it is so hard hitting. It is the best first 150 pages I have ever read in a fantasy series. Some people have also said that this book has a rough start, and I literally could not disagree more. Simple, not exactly a “wowing story”, this book is for all ages. Shanda McCloskey’s art makes an active event, dancing, event into a calming story for bedtime, or really, anytime. They accent the text, but also can stand on their own. The details and colors are not overwhelming, but neither are they underwhelming. The story was so-so for me, but the illustrations enjoyable.
